Children’s Church this March

Mar 08

This month we are exploring the following during our Children's church sessions:

Sunday 9th March:  Finding Safety in God Psalm 91

God is our safe place: If you trust in God, He will protect you like a bird protects its babies with its wings.

He is our shield: God's promises are like a shield that keeps us safe from bad things.

Don't be afraid: Even if scary things happen around you, God will keep you safe.

He watches over us: God's angels watch over us and will help us stay safe.

God is our friend: If you love God, He will love you back and always be there for you.

He will help us: God will help us through hard times and give us a long, happy life.

Safe in the Lord

91 Those who go to God Most High for safety
    will be protected by God All-Powerful.
I will say to the Lord, “You are my place of safety and protection.
    You are my God, and I trust you.”

God will save you from hidden traps
    and from deadly diseases.
He will protect you like a bird
    spreading its wings over its young.
    His truth will be like your armor and shield.
You will not fear any danger by night
    or an arrow during the day.
You will not be afraid of diseases that come in the dark
    or sickness that strikes at noon.
At your side 1,000 people may die,
    or even 10,000 right beside you.
    But you will not be hurt.
You will only watch what happens.
    You will see the wicked punished.

The Lord is your protection.
    You have made God Most High your place of safety.
10 Nothing bad will happen to you.
    No disaster will come to your home.
11 He has put his angels in charge of you.
    They will watch over you wherever you go.
12 They will catch you with their hands.
    And you will not hit your foot on a rock.
13 You will walk on lions and cobras.
    You will step on strong lions and snakes.

14 The Lord says, “If someone loves me, I will save him.
    I will protect those who know me.
15 They will call to me, and I will answer them.
    I will be with them in trouble.
    I will rescue them and honor them.
16 I will give them a long, full life.
    They will see how I can save.”

Our worship song this week is 'In God we trust'

Sunday 16th March: Putting our trust in God. Psalm 27

The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
    of whom shall I be afraid?

When the wicked advance against me
    to devour[a] me,
it is my enemies and my foes
    who will stumble and fall.
Though an army besiege me,
    my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
    even then I will be confident.

One thing I ask from the Lord,
    this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
    and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble
    he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
    and set me high upon a rock.

Then my head will be exalted
    above the enemies who surround me;
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;
    I will sing and make music to the Lord.

Hear my voice when I call, Lord;
    be merciful to me and answer me.
My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
    Your face, Lord, I will seek.
Do not hide your face from me,
    do not turn your servant away in anger;
    you have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me,
    God my Savior.
10 Though my father and mother forsake me,
    the Lord will receive me.
11 Teach me your way, Lord;
    lead me in a straight path
    because of my oppressors.
12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
    for false witnesses rise up against me,
    spouting malicious accusations.

13 I remain confident of this:
    I will see the goodness of the Lord
    in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.

What does this Psalm mean?

God is our Light and Strength:  This means God is like a bright light that helps them see their way and a strong protector who helps them overcome challenges.

God is a Safe Place: This means God's presence is a safe and comforting place, like a home where they can always find peace and happiness.

God is Always There: God is always with us and will never leave us.

God Helps Us Be Brave: God encourages us to be brave and trust in him, even when we are afraid.

God is Close and Loving: God wants to talk to us and listen to us, even when we're feeling scared or sad.

Our welcome worship songs are; Be bold be strong and King of me

Our closing prayer is The Lord's prayer and here is a video to sing and do the prayer together:
